A Thought For You

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all  the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember the UK's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words in January 2003, during his address to British ambassadors in London, he said::

"...I sometimes think it is a good rule of thumb to ask of a country: are people trying to get into it or out of it? It's not a bad guide to what sort of country it is."

Only  two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

1.  Jesus  Christ
2.  The American G. I.

One died for your soul, the other for your  freedom.

A Homeland for the Palestinians?  Why they?  How about all those others?

Ezekiel 33:2-4 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;  Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.

Annan prods Israel to withdraw

SwissInfo 2006/8/31
U.N. Secretary-General
Kofi Annan on Thursday renewed his calls for Israel to lift its blockade of Lebanon swiftly and to withdraw fully from the country as soon as 5,000 U.N. peacekeepers are in the south.   Annan, who travelled to Syria after talks in Jordan, is trying to bolster a truce ushered in by a U.N. resolution that halted a 34-day war between Israel and Hizbollah guerrillas.   "I expect -- and I did make this clear to the Israeli authorities -- that when the international forces have reached 5,000 and are deployed to the south with the Lebanese (army), it is time for them to withdraw and withdraw completely," Annan told a news conference after talks with Jordan's King Abdullah. ...

UN's Annan says time is ripe for normal ties between Israel, Lebanon

Combined Jewish Philanthropies 2006/8/31
...Annan spoke with reporters following talks with
Jordan's ruler, King Abdullah II, in a conference hall on the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth.   In the closed-door meeting, Abdullah called for a more "active" U.N. role in resolving the region's problems, according to a statement by the king's press office.   It said the king stressed that the Palestinian issue was the "core" of the Mideast conflict.   "The key to all the problems pertaining to the Arab-Israeli conflict is finding a just solution to the Palestinian issue that would restore the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and lead to establishing a Palestinian state on Palestinian soil," Abdullah told Annan. ...
Well you can see who Annan is getting his script from.  See UPI story below wherein Annan parrots king Abdullah's statement.

Iraq’s Meddlesome Neighbors
Council On Foreign Relations 2006/8/31
Iraq is sandwiched between six states that hold competing views of what its future should resemble. Where some of Iraq's neighbors see instability on their borders, others see opportunity. In Washington, the biggest worry is that the low-level civil war in Iraq might spread beyond its borders and engulf its neighbors, setting off a regional conflict or, worse, triggering a third world war. The presence of oil, millions of Kurds with no homeland, and an ascendant Shiite underclass all provide kindling for a potential regional conflagration. Below is a rundown of the foreign policies of Iraq's neighbors vis-à-vis Baghdad. ...

The Samson Strategy
Israel Insider 2006/8/30
...The story of Samson says it straight. We may have made mistakes up and down the block. We may have let ourselves be seduced. We may have squandered our assets and let ourselves to dragged by our shorthairs into danger. We may be led by the vain pride of preening idiot politicians which our foolish people somehow found fit to elect.
But chain us, blind us, and prepare us for mass death and you can bet your little red button that we're going to bring down the whole temple down with us.
And that's why the best use of Israel's presumed arsenal of nukes should be pointed not so much at the population centers of our enemies but at their symbolic centers.

Old Shiite-Sunni Blood Feud Drives the Mideast's New Power Play
Los Angeles Times 2006/8/28
...The Middle East that the British created at the end of World War I confirmed Sunni hegemony, but the war in Iraq threatens to undermine it.   The fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003 has unleashed the centuries-old blood feud between Shiites and Sunnis in Iraq, which, in turn, has hardened sectarian hostilities across the Middle East. Meanwhile, Iran's bullish determination to enrich uranium and possibly acquire a nuclear capability deeply worries its Sunni neighbors, who see Iran's hand behind the Shiite drive for power in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East.   No surprise then that Sunni rulers and radical clerics reacted viscerally to Hezbollah's perceived victory in the Lebanon war. But Riyadh's and Amman's denunciations of Shiite rulers and extremist groups, coupled with a flurry of anti-Hezbollah fatwas by radical Sunni clerics, have not diverted the admiring gaze of Arabs everywhere toward Hezbollah. Reversing this situation will not be easy ...

Russia stages a comeback through Syria
The Daily Star 2006/8/28
...Over the last few weeks, Moscow has taken a very assertive position in the United Nations Security Council. Together with China (yet more vigorously), it opposed the initial joint US-French draft resolution that suited Israel. The Russians have taken it upon themselves to be the international advocates for the Lebanese and Syrian governments. ...Official ties between Moscow and Damascus are increasing rapidly. It all started with a January 2005 visit to
Moscow by Syrian President Bashar Assad. The Russians announced that they were writing off nearly three-quarters of Syria's $12-13 billion debt. ...It is now beyond reasonable doubt that the Kremlin has decided to take Syria under its wing and use it to stage a "comeback" to Middle East politics. ...

Saudi foreign minister calls for Arab League revamp
The Daily Star 2006/8/28
Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal has accused some states of compromising their Arab identities through ties with non-Arab countries and called for a revamp of the Arab League. In Saturday's news conference, Prince Saud also said that Israel must take into account its Arab neighbors' security if it wants peace in the Middle East.   "We face the threat of losing our identity. Clearly some countries establish relations with other parties at the expense of relations between member nations," the Saudi minister, a key member of the royal family, said.   "We hope to deal with this matter through improving the Arab performance," he said, referring to a Saudi proposal to restructure the Arab League.   "We hope to define our commitments toward each other in this alliance which is called the Arab League," he added. ...
This again is a reiteration of what King Abdullah II of Jordan has been saying, ..."To speak with one language" so to speak, on behalf of all Arabs.  I see this evolving into a 'United States of Arabia' if you will, that elects a representative, ...a King or President, say ...King Abdullah II of Jordan for instance.  Hmmm!  Meanwhile we'll watch and wait.

Hezbollah charade - UN officiates at colonization of south Lebanon by Iran

...Muslim nations -- including countries such as Indonesia who refuse to recognize Israel as a legitimate state -- have been uncharacteristically quick to volunteer the bulk of that.   It doesn't take a keen eye to see what's going on here: The UN has already legitimized Hezbollah by negotiating with them and arranging a ceasefire to save them from Israel. Now the UN is permitting Hezbollah to retrench in south Lebanon. No-one less than the secretary general of the UN has promised Hezbollah will not be troubled by UN troops.

Analysis: An Arab 'peace offensive'
United Press International 2006/8/26
AMMAN, Jordan ...The Arabs decided to launch a "peace offensive" at the U.N. Security Council to give the international community a larger role in resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict once and for all, but it will be no easy task.   Shortly after the Israeli-Lebanese war erupted last month, stunned Arab regimes came to the conclusion that the comatose peace process is effectively dead and should be reconceived, but under different terms and sponsorship, if wars, armed confrontations and bloodshed are ever to end in the Middle East.   Arab foreign ministers meeting in Cairo last week decided it was time to launch an international peace initiative directly engaging the international community, through the U.N. Security Council, tacitly removing the peace process sponsorship from the United States and the Quartet Committee, ...
This Arab 'peace offensive' was begun by king Abdullah II of Jordan and is a part of his 'new approach for resuming the peace process'.  (See the Monsters & Critics article of 8/10 below).
