(2) The destruction of oil facilities in Gulf states hosting US forces
or otherwise friendly to the US, and the mining of the Persian Gulf,
in order to drive oil prices above $100/barrel and adversely effect
financial markets;
(3) The weakening of US and European national resolve to win a war
against Iran by causing massive US and European casualties requiring
deployment of reinforcing forces, attacking into Iraq and the Gulf
waters with conventional forces and weapons (such as ballistic
missiles), the possible use of chemical and biological weapons on the
Iraqi battlefield, and a massive increase in the number and level of
terrorist attacks within Iraq (for which Iran’s Revolutionary Guards
have been laying the groundwork since the spring of 2003);
(4) The use of "Fifth Column" forces against US, European and Israeli
targets, with the forces consisting of terrorist cells from Hamas and
Islamic Jihad, with which Iranian President Ahmadinejad met on 20
January 2006 in Syria, and;
(5) The attacking of Israel with ballistic missiles, possibly with the

nuclear weapons facility at Dimona, which the Iranians hope will

democracy, is interested in deepening the values of democracy and

...Immediately after Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem performed the
rite of the blessing of water, the Jordan boiled up and began to flow
back, just as it happened after the baptism of Christ, the Zhizn
(Life) daily writes. Right after silver crosses were
thrown into its calm waters after the prayer, the river boiled up. A
maelstrom developed and the current flowed back for a several minutes.
An ecstatic cry of five thousand people resounded over the Jewish
desert. People refused to believe their own eyes, just as they did two
thousand years when the Jordan turned its current after Jesus Christ
entered its waters...
Let the lying signs and
wonders begin.

The Road to Tehran...
National Review Online
2006/1/23
...In short, the Assad
family's grip on Syria is weakening, and this is welcome news indeed,
both for the long-suffering Syrian people and for us. The Iranians are
obviously desperate to keep Assad in power, and Hezbollah armed to the
teeth. Should things go the other way, Iran would lose its principal
ally in the war against us in Iraq. As is their wont, the Iranians
have been paying others to do much of their dirtiest work, and they
have awarded Assad tens of millions of dollars' worth of oil, as well
as cash subsidies, to cover the costs of recruiting, training and
transporting young jihadis, who move from Syria into the Iraqi battle
space (and, according to Jane's, a serious publication, the
Iranians have also sent some of their WMDs to Assad for safekeeping).
That deadly flow has been considerably reduced in recent months,
thanks to an extended campaign waged by U.S. and Iraqi forces in Anbar
Province, and further along the Iraq/Syria border. The Syrians have
accordingly sent radical Islamists into Lebanon, perhaps to link up
with Hezbollah in a new jihad against Israel. ...

A
dangerous escalation
The Washington Times 2006/1/23
The whirlwind of events in recent days involving Iran, Syria
and Israel is ominous, suggesting that the rogue regimes in Tehran and
Damascus may have made a strategic decision to escalate the level of
conflict with the Jewish state -- and perhaps with Washington and the
European Union as well. ...Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said
Saturday night that Israel would under no circumstances accept a
nuclear Iran, adding that his country is preparing for the possibility
that diplomatic efforts to prevent this from taking place would fail.
Mr. Mofaz described the combination of a radical regime, long-range
missiles and attempts to develop a nuclear capability as a shreat to
Israel and the world, and warned that Mr. Ahmadinejad's policies would
be disastrous for Iran. Perhaps the most disturbing thing
about Thursday's bombing in Tel Aviv and the events in Damascus is the
realization that the state sponsors of the terrorists who target
Israel may be on the verge of obtaining a nuclear shield. If the
Islamofascists in Tehran succeed in this endeavor, it will be a
geopolitical catastrophe for the United States and the free world.

Iran says
moves Europe funds in nuclear dispute
Jordan Times 2006/1/22
Embroiled in a nuclear standoff with the West, Iran said on
Friday it was moving funds out of Europe to shield them from possible
UN sanctions and flexed its oil muscles with a proposal to cut OPEC
output. "Yes, Iran has started withdrawing money from
European banks and transferring it to other banks abroad," said a
senior Iranian official ...Financial markets reacted nervously to the
uncertainty about Iran's foreign holdings, estimated at more than $30
billion, helping send oil to a four-month high above $68. US stock
prices fell and the dollar dipped against the euro and the safe-haven
Swiss franc. The United States called the step an act of
isolation. "I think it is an indication that Iran is further isolating
itself from the rest of the world," State Department spokesman Sean
McCormack said. ...
Iran
Allocates Over $100 Million for Hizbullah, Islamic Jihad
Arutz Sheva 2006/1/22
...Ahmadinejad held talks in Damascus with representatives of
Hizbullah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the
Liberation of Palestine during a visit he paid to Syrian dictator
Bashar Al-Assad. Mofaz called Assad and Ahmadinejad
"representatives of the Axis of Evil," saying that their meeting was
"a summit for terror." Ahmadinejad made the trip to Syria, according
to the defense minister, "to be sure that the terrorism against Israel
would not slow down for a moment, and would even increase." In this
regard, Mofaz said that Iran supports public relations efforts for the
Hizbullah, supplies the organization with weapons and funds its
activities with about $100 million per year. Part of that sum also
makes its way to terrorists in the Palestinian Authority, Mofaz said.
In addition, Iran separately funded the PA-based Islamic Jihad with
$10 million in 2005. This figure, the defense minister noted, is twice
the Iranian budget allocation for it in 2004. ...
