Establishment of Hashemite kingdom being floated in diplomatic circles
Jihad in India
FrontPageMag
2007/11/29 ...Our
enemy is political Islam and a movement based upon it: the political
Islamic movement. Political Islam holds that Islam should have a
dominant say in governing the affairs of government. There are
good reasons for this outlook, going back to Islamic scriptures.
Islamic trilogy, consisting of the Koran, Hadith and Sira, is the
basis of political Islam. In the past few years sophisticated
scientific analysis of the trilogy has been carried out. The Center
for Study of Political Islam has published a series along these lines.
Their analysis points to a very dominant political nature of the
trilogy – i.e. domination of political deeds of Islam’s founder
Mohammed – as opposed to spirituality. Hence it is very reasonable to
conclude that political Islam is almost Islam. In the
context of the trilogy, inner political Islam prevents Muslims from
acquiring new knowledge to create a better future for themselves;
external political Islam commands them to wage a religious war (called
jihad) with unbelievers until the whole humanity is converted to
Islam. Trilogy-based evidence and early Islamic history
suggest that political Islam’s intent on absolute control of Muslim
masses and channeling of their energies toward conquest gives an
impression of an ideology that is primarily designed for extending the
powerbase of Mohammed during his times and that of extended tribes of
Saudis, non-Saudi Arab Muslims and non-Arab Muslims (in that order)
subsequent to his death. This strong political component
also means that Islam may not be structurally amenable to reform or
moderation. If one takes away this political component, there is no
Islam. Mosques not only bring trilogy to Muslim
communities but they also function as social centers. Due to the
political domination of the trilogy, clerics are naturally inclined
toward political activism, including multi-front jihad directed at
unbelievers. It is ascertained in my book that political Islam,
through its socially networked nodes called mosques, is the swamp that
creates mosquitoes called jihadis, radicals, militants and extremists,
and importantly, gets Muslim populations to support them.
We should view political Islam, not radical or militant Islam, as our
main enemy. Any movement based on the political ideology
outlined in the trilogy has to have powerful and resourceful backers
in order to be successful. Saudi Arabia, Iran and Pakistan have
powerful political Islamic movements within that fuel movements
elsewhere – both in other Muslim majority nations and in nations with
Muslim minorities. These three nations are called, Axis of Jihad in my
book. Saudi and Iranian funding for mosques can be seen as
the most efficient way of advancing jihad, by funding nodes of social
network in Muslim communities. Also, the axis of jihad nations or
political Islamic movements in these nations has created powerful
proxies – be it Al-Qaeda, Afghan Taliban (by Saudi Arabia and
Pakistan) or Hezbollah (by Iran). In this context we can
now identify the weakness in American strategy in the war on terror.
America is trying to neutralize proxies and radicals while doing
little to neutralize the axis of jihad and the global political
Islamic movement. While I agree with the initial assault on Saddam’s
regime and the Taliban, the continued occupation of Iraq – and even
Afghanistan appear to be expensive, time-consuming and draining
diversions. We are now further identifying the enemy: a
political ideology of conquest that inspires terror, mosques as the
nodes that spawn jihad and axis of jihad as the main backer nations of
the ideology and the nodes. ...The Koran was
the first book of the trilogy to be put together, and that was done
several decades after the death of Mohammed. In a Hadith it is said
that Koranic verses were collected from bits of bone, stone,
parchment, date palm leaves, and also from the memories of those who
had memorized it. Clearly, leaves, stones, bits of bone,
and people’s memory are not reliable forms of note-taking or
information storage when Mohammed delivered his “revelations”. This is
common sense. For something as profound as God’s “revelations,” there
shouldn’t be an iota of doubt about their authenticity. We can make a
powerful assertion that available evidence makes the claim of
associating these revelations with God not scientifically credible.

Jordan will
vote this year, under a controversial law
The Daily Star
2007/4/27
Speculation was rife over the last several months that King Abdullah
II would exercise his constitutional prerogative to delay Jordan's
parliamentary elections, due to take place this year. Regional
instability, Islamist governing parties in Iraq and Palestine, and
discontent over Jordan's rising inflation and subsidy cuts were cited
as potential reasons. Major national organizations and figures,
however, including the National Center for Human Rights and the
Council of Professional Association Presidents, came out strongly
against a delay. King Abdullah ended the speculation on March 2, and
against the advice of some of his closest advisors, declared that the
elections will be held this year. With elections on the
way, Jordan's controversial electoral law is once more under scrutiny.
Influential figures and organizations, including Islamic Action
Front (IAF) secretary general Zaki Bani Irsheid and The Jordan Times,
have called on the government to change the "one-vote" law used in
parliamentary elections since 1993. That system allows each voter one
vote, regardless of how many parliamentary seats represent the voter's
district. The system puts political parties at a disadvantage, as they
effectively cannot run slates or lists of candidates in each district
because voters only get one choice. The law therefore benefits
independent candidates with strong personal or tribal connections to a
significant number (but not necessarily a majority) of the district's
voters. ...

Strange bedfellows
Al-Ahram 2007/4/26 When Acting Israeli President Dalia Itzik (President
Moshe Katsav has been suspended from office for allegedly committing
sexual offences) met Jordan's King Abdullah II last week, the
king reportedly told her and the accompanying delegation everything
they loved to hear. According to the Israeli media, the
king told the visiting Israeli officials that, "we are in the same
boat, we have the same problems, and we have the same enemies."
The Israeli daily, Haaretz, reported that the king reiterated these
comments a number of times and that "those at the meeting" understood
the remarks as referring to "Iran, Hizbullah and Hamas".
The king also reportedly said at one point, "do you want Iran on the
banks of the Jordan?" More significantly, Abdullah II is
said to have told the Israeli delegation that clauses in the Arab
Peace Plan pertaining to the Palestinian refugees' right of return
should be understood as referring to "compensation" not
"repatriation", and that "everything will be consensual and that the
Arab Peace Plan was not actually a plan but merely a talking point."After former
Knesset speaker Reuven Rivlin, who took part in the meeting,
reminded the king that Arab League Secretary Amr Moussa had referred
to the plan as a "take-it-or-leave-it offer," the king reportedly told
Rivlin, "leave him to me." ...Abdul-Sattar
Qassem, professor of political science at An-Najah University in
Nablus and former presidential candidate, argued that Palestinians
would attach more credibility to the Hebrew press reports on the
King's statements than to denials by Jordanian officials.
"It is true the Israelis lie a lot, but Arab leaders lie even more,
they are inured to lying to their people and to deceiving and
misleading them.
...There is no doubt that the Jordanian leadership, namely
King Abdullah II, is very
worried about the possible ramifications and turbulence that may
engulf the region, especially its most vulnerable spots, such as
Jordan, if the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is allowed to linger on
without resolution. ...Hence, his desperate attempts to get Israel to
accept the Arab Peace Plan.

Olmert Warns Of Looming War With Syria
CrossRhythms
2007/4/27 Israeli officials decided to publicly warn during April that a
major conflict may be looming with Syria in the coming months.
This came after further evidence emerged that the Baathist
regime ruling from Damascus is stepping up war preparations, along
with allied Hizbullah militia forces in Lebanon. Meanwhile
political fallout from last year's Second Lebanon War continued to
swirl in Israel, with government cabinet ministers, legislators and
regular citizens waiting for the release of the seminal Winograd
Committee report on the conflict, expected in late April or early May.

Revolutionary Guards chief threatens US world interests and Israel if
Iran is attacked
DEBKAfile
2007/4/26 Mohammad
Baqer Solghadr, deputy interior minister, has been tagged for this top
post by Iranian leaders engrossed in war preparations, according to
DEBKAfile’s Iranian sources. He told the official Iranian news agency
IRNA Thursday: “Nowhere would be safe for America with (Iran’s)
long-range missiles… we can fire tens of thousands of missiles every
day.” He added: “With long-range missiles Iran can also
threaten Israel as America’s ally” and US Middle East bases.
DEBKAfile’s military sources report that Solghadr was not overstating
Iran’s missile capabilities. The Islamic Republic’s expanded war
preparations must be taken into account as encompassing Syria, the
Lebanese Hizballah and the Palestinian Hamas, the Jihad Islami, the
Fatah-al Aqsa Brigades and the Popular Resistance Committees.
Tehran has armed and harnessed these allies and proxies for response
to a US or Israeli attack on Iran which Tehran is certain is planned
for the summer months. They have been fed with an
assortment of missiles of varying ranges by Iranian air and sea lifts.
Putting together the missile arsenals piled up in Iran, Syria,
and amassed by Hizballah and Palestinian groups yields a total that
makes a daily barrage of several thousand missiles against Israel and
US regional bases feasible. This deterrent, put in place over several
months, allowed Zolghadr to issue his threat with confidence.

Syria's Ruling Party Wins in Vote
The
Washington Post 2007/4/26
The government said Thursday that Syria's ruling coalition took an
overwhelming majority of seats in parliamentary elections that were
boycotted by the opposition as a farce. The rubber-stamp
legislature is likely to consolidate the rule of President Bashar
Assad, who is expected to seek its nomination to run for a second
seven-year term in July. There had been no doubt about the
outcome, because the constitution guarantees the Baath Party and its
allies a two-thirds majority in the parliament. ...Dissident Maamoun
Homsi, a former lawmaker who was imprisoned before he fled abroad,
scoffed at the results as forgeries. "No parliament in the
world today appoints two-thirds of its members without competition ...

Jordanian police arrest man for killing his sister, supposedly to

International Herald Tribune 2007/4/26 Jordanian authorities arrested a man accused of killing his
30-year-old sister on suspicion that she had a love affair, even
though he had earlier signed a pledge to the police that he would not
harm her, a police official said Thursday. The
crime, which took place in the eastern industrial city of Zarqa on
Wednesday, brings to eight the total number of women killed since
January in what is known as "honor crimes." An
average of 20 women are killed by male relatives each year in Jordan,
a largely conservative Muslim society where men have the final say in
all family matters. Many here consider sex out of wedlock an
indelible stain on a family's reputation. Some women in
conservative circles of the society have been killed simply for

anonymity because he is not allowed to speak to the press, said the
suspect allegedly sprayed his sister with seven bullets in broad

ideology that is flawed to the core and should be totally irrelevant

The good part about our confrontation with Islam is that it forces us
to deal with flaws in our own civilization. It has already exposed a
massive failure in our education system and our media, both filled
with anti-Western sentiments and ideological nonsense. These
legacies from the Western Cultural Revolution of the 1960s and 70s

Israeli reports on king's remarks
People's Daily
Online 2007/4/22 The Jordanian Royal Court denied remarks on the Palestinian
issue attributed Friday to Jordan's King Abdullah II by the Israeli
newspaper Ha'aretz, the Jordan Times reported on Sunday.
"What some Israeli newspapers quoted the king to have said
during his meeting on Thursday with the Speaker of the Israeli
Knesset, Dalia Itzik, is completely baseless and false," Amjad
Adayleh, head of the Media Department at the royal court, was quoted
as saying in an official statement.
Ha'aretz, quoting Israeli lawmakers who attended the meeting, said
King Abdullah had told Itzik that "Instead of talking about the
Palestinian right of return (in an Arab peace initiative), it might be
necessary to talk about the right to compensation." ...
This is now the
propaganda via the internet that the king is using to push (more
like coerce) Israel into his 'peace' compromise.

foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a
sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to
the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies,
and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. 18 And
your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your
agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing
scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

Bishop Dawni
Hails Jordanian Efforts in Preserving Islamic and Christian Holy
Places
Jordan News
Agency 2007/4/20 Bishop Suhail Dawni of the Episcopalian Church of Jerusalem,
Jordan and Middle East hailed the Jordanian efforts being exerted to
preserve the Islamic and Christian holy places in Palestine. He called on followers of all religions to fight the
Israeli excavations around the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem....He added that they are honored with the Hashemite family and its
role in preserving citizens and the Christianity existence, thanking
His Majesty King Abdullah for his great efforts in looking for the
holy places and preserving the coexistence.
It appears obvious to me that this so called
Bishop has no regard for what God thinks about anyone dividing His
land Israel, in that he honors King Abdullah II, the very one pushing
the so called 'Arab peace plan' that will further split Israel.
Iraq may hold twice as much oil
Financial
Times 2007/4/19
Iraq could hold almost twice as much oil in its reserves as had been
thought, according to the most comprehensive independent study of its
resources since the US-led invasion in 2003. The potential
presence of a further 100bn barrels in the western desert highlights
the opportunity for Iraq to be one of the world’s biggest oil
suppliers, and its attractions for international oil companies – if
the conflict in the country can be resolved. If confirmed,
it would raise Iraq from the world’s third largest source of oil
reserves with 116bn barrels to second place, behind Saudi Arabia and
overtaking Iran. ...

Achieving Justice on International Level Contributes in Global
Democracy Jordan News Agency
2007/4/19
...Prince Al
Hassan Bin Talal said that democracy is a universal and relative
concept, that no nation or society can claim ownership over the values
and precepts of democracy. Prince Hassan remarks came
during the "US democracy strategy:
An American-Jordanian dialogue"
conference which kicked off today.
The prince added that democracy is a
process and a condition, not merely the show of vote-casting, since
there is confusion on the subject because there is rarely any
clarification on the use of the word, as a process, as a state or
condition, or as an outcome. Prince Hassan stressed that
the realization of international justice enhances not only peace, but
also the internationalization of democracy, the sense of a more lawful
and legitimate world order. ...
You can bet your bottom dollar that they will
redefine democracy in their own image, and at the same time get US to
buy into it, then force it down not only our but the rest of the
world's throats. And yu can bet your bottom dollar that it's new

In his recent address to Congress, King Abdullah II of Jordan
dramatically quoted FDR’s famous “four freedoms speech” as a means to
describe American foreign policy as freedom from fear, freedom from
want, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion. The goal of the
speech was to call for greater US involvement in facilitating an
Israeli-Palestinian peace process. What is significant about this call
is the Palestinian conundrum that Adbullah himself faces in Jordan.
Unlike the Palestinian cause in the West Bank, Lebanon, or
Syria, the cause in Jordanian refugee camps is not as plastered all
over the place as in other Arab countries where Palestinians reside.
Thanks in part to an efficient secret police force, the Hashemite cult
of personality remains dominant, at least in public. But Jordan’s
demographics continue to work against Abdullah and his dynasty.
...Although Jordan under Abdullah could serve as a positive example
for how Palestinians could become assimilated in an Arab country, the
desire to keep the Palestinians in their dire state is greater. In the
end, the ongoing factional violence which includes kidnappings and
assassinations now threatens to return the streets of Gaza to a state
of war. And the so-called unity government is just a tactical truce to
be held until one party believes unity no longer serves its interests.

King stresses need

Jordan News Agency

...King Abdullah II underlined the necessity to set a working
mechanism to reinvigorate the Arab peace initiative as a base
for realizing just and durable that can be acceptable to parties in
the region. During a meeting with a group of Palestinian
peace activists on Monday, King Abdullah noted the significant
role of peace activists in the Palestinian areas, Israel and other
countries concerned with the peace making in the region. Those groups
are capable of convincing the silent majority in their countries and
communities about the importance of peace for the present and future
of the generations in this region, King Abdullah said.
He reiterated his commitment to care about peace teams in the region,
stressing the importance of holding workshops by all peace powers to
institutionalize and sustain their efforts tailored to promote peace
and stability. ...During the open discussion at the meeting,
members of the group affirmed Jordan’s vital role in supporting
the Palestinian people and peace making efforts. They also commended
King Abdullah’s speech before the US Congress and his unceasing

GCC Countries
Complicate US' Iran Plans
Inter
Press Service News Agency 2007/4/16 With members of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)
urging dialogue rather than war with Iran over its nuclear programme
and reluctant to allow their territories to be used in any attack,
Washington's pressure tactics against Tehran appear to be faltering.
This reluctance is seen as one factor in the Islamic Republic's
defiant announcement, last week, of an expansion of its uranium
enrichment programme to ‘industrial' levels which, the West fears, is
a step away from producing a nuclear bomb. Tehran has
consistently denied a weapons component to its nuclear programme.
On Monday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a televised
address from the city of Shiraz that Tehran ‘'will not retreat even
one iota to preserve its nuclear right''. This was clearly a response
to the United States' warning that further United Nations Security
Council sanctions would be brought to bear upon Iran. But
beyond sanctions it would be hard for the U.S. to contemplate military
action against Iran because of a lack of support from such GCC
countries as Qatar which played host to the U.S. Central Command

participate by any means to harm Iran from Qatar,'' first
deputy premier and foreign minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor

The Barzani Chameleon
The Middle
East Quarterly 2007/4/15
On September 11, 1961, Iraqi Kurds under the leadership of Mulla
Mustafa Barzani, founder of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and
father of the current Kurdish president Masoud Barzani, rose in
rebellion against Iraq's central government. Kurds often portray the
event as spontaneous.[1] It was
not. A declassified KGB document suggests Soviet
involvement in the Kurdish rebellion was part of a Kremlin plan to
disrupt Western interests in the Third World. ...How is this episode
relevant today? Switching alliances is part of the Barzani family
political culture, intertwining survival and power with Kurdish
nationalism. Between 1980 and 1988, Masoud Barzani allied himself with
Iran in its fight against Saddam, even as the revolutionary
authorities in Iran turned their guns on Iranian Kurds. After long
hostility to Turkey, in 1992, he allied with Ankara in its fight
against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (Partiya Karkerên Kurdistan, PKK);
in 1996, he allied with Saddam Hussein against rival Kurdish leader
(and current Iraqi president) Jalal Talabani. In the wake of Iraq's
liberation in 2003, Barzani has portrayed himself as a U.S. ally. For
how long, though, remains unclear. Contributed by Bob

Bush's Plan for the

URUKNet
2007/4/14
Over the past
few months, the Bush administration in the backdrop of the Iraq Study
Group's (ISG) report has announced its plan for Iraq-apart from the
Presidents refusal to formally engage Iran and Syria- the plan broadly
concurs with the recommendation laid out by the ISG. Furthermore, the US has mobilised its surrogates in Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia,
Iran, Iraq and the gulf countries to implement this plan and prepare
the ground for the emergence of a new middle east. ...For
over fifty-years the US has depended on the rulers and the resources
of the Muslims world to achieve its status as the world's sole super
power. Indeed without the support of rulers and resources of the
Muslim world, America could not have won any of the gulf war or
defeated the Soviets in Afghanistan and won the cold war. Ironically,
while America's staunch allies like Israel and Europe are putting out
the knives for the US, the Muslims rulers are pulling out all the
stops to preserve America's hegemony over the Muslim ummah. How long
America's primacy in the region continues on life-support depends
entirely upon how quickly the Muslim world re-establishes the
caliphate.

King condemns
terrorist blasts in Algeria
Jordan News Agency
2007/4/11
...King
Abdullah II condemned the terrorist bombings in Algiers on
Wednesday that claimed lives of innocent people. One of the bombing
targeted the government headquarters. In a cable to
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Wednesday,
King Abdullah described the bombing as
“terrorist and cowardly acts that have nothing to do with Islam and
Islamic ethics.” ... It must be very obvious
to the king that he knows they are not Islamic. If this is so,
the king should start cleaning house in the mosques where the Imams

Why is
Islam afraid of history?
RenewAmerica.US 2007/4/11 (Pete Fisher)
...I have to wonder what is it about Islam that thinks it can destroy
other religious artifacts, and make claim to sites that they never had
any claim to? Just ask those in India who see a mosque sitting atop
the site where their temple used to sit. I think Muslims are
afraid of history because as it is will show them things they do not
want to see. They do not want to see the holes in their own dogma.
They do not want to see that the reason they kill Jews is no reason at
all. They do not want to admit that the excuse they have been using
all these years to exterminate Jews is based on falsehood. And they do
not want to have to sit around and find another way to impose Islam on
a global level beginning with the Jews. I think history
and archaeology have shown what the rest of the world never really
doubted. That Israel has its history and its faith in Jerusalem and on
that Temple mount. The heart and soul of Judaism rests in those
places, and no matter how many artifacts you destroy, or how many
fables you concoct to make people believe otherwise, that will never
change the truth. It is similar to the lies of the Holocaust deniers.
Their lies will never cover up the branded flesh and great loss
of life. Muslims can believe Mohammed was ignorant enough
to visit a mosque that did not exist. They can believe the Jews never
had a temple there. They can believe that Islam has the rights to that
place. But in the end, it will never change the truth. ...
Saudi tells Iran, Syria don’t count on us if you don’t cooperate

2007 a prophetic year?
WorldNetDaily 2007/4/11
In Genesis, God flooded the earth for 40 days and 40 nights, and 40
days after the mountaintops became visible, Noah opened the ark's
window and sent out a bird. Isaac was 40 years old when he
married Rebecca, and his son Esau was 40 years old when he married
Judith. The judge Eli presided over the people of Israel
for 40 years. Their first king, Saul, reigned for 40 years; their
second king, David, reigned for 40 years; and their third king,
Solomon, reigned for 40 years. The number 40 is used a lot
in the Bible, and it is sometimes – but not always – connected with
punishment. Israel was made to wait 40 years in the desert to enter
the Promised Land and was given a 40-year judgment under the
Philistines for its misdeeds. Egypt had a 40-year sentence to serve
under Babylon's Nebuchadnezzar. ...This year, 2007, commemorates the
40-year anniversary of the giveaway of the Temple Mount.
Now as before, Israel's enemies surround the city and beat their
plowshares into swords. The ancient plateau still stands where old
Abraham went to offer Isaac, where King David dreamed of the Temple
his son Solomon would build, where12-year-old Jesus amazed the doctors
of the law with his understanding. But now it is populated with
monuments to a god the ancient Hebrews never knew, and the 40-year
cycle has come around again. Will the merciful God of
Israel grant His people a pass on what some might consider one
leader's lapse in judgment? Has the biblical 40-year phenomenon drawn
to a close at this late date? Or will 2007 be another prophetic year?

Abdullah II has said that the Israel regime must end its occupation of
Arab lands if it wants to co-exist with the world's Muslims.
In an interview with AFP on Tuesday, the King also called on the

peace that puts an end to years of violence and suffering."

AfricaAsia.com
2007/4/10 Jordan's King

an interview with AFP that a US troop withdrawal from Iraq without a
timetable could further increase the violence there.
"Withdrawal

security and stability, may only worsen the problem and contribute to
increasing violence and conflict among Iraqis,"
the king said. ...For the Jordanian monarch"the
problem with Iraq is that Iraqis themselves are divided between those
supporting US-led coalition forces in their country, those rejecting
and resisting them as occupation, and those that seek to disrupt the
political process and national reconciliation efforts."
"This group also seeks to undermine the unity of Iraq by inciting
sedition, sectarian strife and carrying out terrorist acts targeting
Iraqi civilians," he said. He insisted that the
solution is in "helping the Iraqis achieve national reconciliation and
involving all sectors of Iraqi society in the political process." ...
Assad Stifles
the Christians of Syria and Lebanon
Assyrian
International News Agency 2007/4/10
...The Nancy Pelosi trip to Syria has done more damage to the
Christians of Syria and Lebanon than is obvious. By sitting with a
dictator who oppresses the Lebanese and Syrian Christians, Pelosi is
in fact giving Assad a green light to oppress further. Not a
word was uttered by her in defense of any Syrian dissident fighting
for freedom in their homeland; people like Michel Kilo, Aref Dalilah,
Anwar al-Bouni, and Kamal Labwani. Furthermore, Assad
stands accused of killing Gibran Tueini, George Hawi, and Pierre
Gemayel all Lebanese Christians who stood against oppression and
Syrian hegemony in their homeland; in addition, the Assads were
responsible for the disappearance of about 17,000 Lebanese prisoners
mostly Christians who vanished right after Assad marched into Beirut
in 1976. Both Christian communities in Syria and Lebanon
have been instrumental in creating an environment of openness and
co-existence in the region. Much of their exuberance in building
bridges with the west and in holding the Levant area to higher
standards of cooperation and enlightenment are being stifled by the
Assad dictatorship. Syria and Lebanon owe a lot to the Christian
communities of both countries. ...

Russians insistent on U.S. Iran attack
WorldNetDaily 2007/4/9
..."Preparations to strike Iran's strategic facilities continue," Col.
Gen. Leonid Ivashov, president of the Academy for Geopolitical
Problems, a Russian think tank, told Moscow-based news service
Interfax. "Three major groups of U.S. forces are still in the Arabian
Sea and the Persian Gulf. Altogether, they have up to 450 cruise
missiles on alert." "Military operations against Tehran
will begin with the launch of at least two unexpected strikes using
Tomahawk cruise missiles and air power in order to disable Iran's
air-defense capabilities." "According to our data, up to
150 aircraft are to be involved in each strike on Iran. Land-based
air-defense systems will be disabled in the first place, then mobile
short-range systems, which Tehran has (including some 30 new
systems)," he said. Ivashov also did not rule out the
possibility of nuclear weapons being used against Iran.
"Combat nuclear weapons may be used for bombing. This will result in
radioactive contamination of the Iranian territory, which could
possibly spread to neighboring countries," he said. A
press conference Ivashov held in Moscow March 30 led to speculation
the U.S. would strike Iran on April 4 in a military attack code-named
"Operation Bite." In his most recent warning, Ivashov
stressed the release of the 15 British sailors and marines captured by
Iran robbed the U.S. of the pretext planned for a military strike last
week. Still, Ivashov warned the U.S. had not given up plans to launch
a missile and air strike on Iran before the end of April. ... Comment: Is this the same

Speaking at a rally celebrating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad,
Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the northern branch of Israel's Islamic
Movement, called for thousands of Muslims to rise, unite and defend
Jerusalem and al-Aksa mosque. At the event, which took
place in Kafr Kanna on Friday night, Salah said that "even if Israel
[banished] him to the moon, the Islamic movement will continue to
chant - in blood and spirit we will redeem al-Aksa." Salah
was the main speaker at the gathering attended by tens of thousands of
people, including the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Muhammad
Hussein. Shalah stated that Israel's presence in Jerusalem
and on the Temple Mount was a pivotal "disaster point" in Muslim
history, and called on the Muslim world to declare a state of
emergency in order to retrieve power over the Temple Mount. ... I ask you, why aren't the

Yahoo News

The seismic jolt that unleashed the deadly Solomons tsunami this week
lifted an entire island metres out of the sea, destroying some of the
world's most pristine coral reefs. In an instant, the
grinding of the Earth's tectonic plates in the 8.0 magnitude
earthquake Monday forced the island of Ranongga up three metres (10
foot). Submerged reefs that once attracted scuba divers
from around the globe lie exposed and dying after the quake raised the
mountainous landmass, which is 32-kilometres (20-miles) long and
8-kilometres (5-miles) wide. Corals that used to form an

that will become the only Jewish house of worship with a view facing
the Temple Mount. The synagogue will be built 2 kilometers from the Temple
Mount and will give prayers the illusion of being at, or at least
really close to, the former temple’s site. The temple
will serve the new neighborhood containing 475 apartments and a hotel
with 150 rooms. The 6-million shekel ($1.5 million)
project called ‘Nof Zion’ (view of Zion) is run by the Digal Company
and owned by Yehuda Levi and Meir Shamir. The
synagogue will consist of two 350-seat halls, one for
Ashkenazi Jews and one for Sephardic Jews. ... This article seems to
equate a synagogue with the temple since they use the titles
interchangeably. However, the Jewish Temples in ancient times
were, among other things such as worship, places where animals were

West Bank and Israel's acceptance of an independent Arab State there
with East Jerusalem as its capitol. ...Whilst the Arab League persists
with this intransigent attitude there is indeed a problem, but one
solely of the Arab League's choosing. The Arab League
presently is made up of 22 member States covering almost 14 million
square kilometers in which almost 320 million Arabs reside.
It is incredible and completely false to continually advocate
that a dispute over 6000 square kilometers housing 3 million Arabs
must first be settled before all the other problems in the region can
be resolved. Yet this is precisely what the Arab League
has sold to the Quartet - America, Russia, the United Nations and the
European Union. - and they have swallowed it hook line and sinker. ...
The League's biggest problem involves a non Arab state - Iran - as it
seeks leadership of the Islamic world through the supremacy of Shia
Islam as the dominant Islamic religion over Sunni Islam , the
religion of the majority of the Arabs. This is the clash
of ideologies, that must first take place before militant Islam can
hope to achieve its aim of making Islam the world's dominant religion.
Islam can only have one leader not two to achieve this
objective. Will that leader be Shia or Sunni? ...

DEBKAfile Exclusive:
Damascus airport has become the hub for thousands of Hizballah, Hamas,
Jihad Islami fighters heading out to Iranian training camps
DEBKAfile
2007/4/2
According to
DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources, in the last several
weeks,
Damascus international airport main has become the main transport hub
for a stream of Lebanese and Palestinian terrorists heading for
Revolutionary Guards installations in Iran.
Hence Israel military intelligence chief’s pessimistic briefing to the
Israeli cabinet Sunday, April 1. ...Damascus airport is also the
transit point for returning terrorists to gather and pick up their
assignment for various Middle East countries, as well as Lebanon, the
Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Syrian military intelligence and
Iranian RG officers have set up a joint depot at the Syrian airport
for directing the incoming and outgoing traffic - much of it ferried
by Syrian Airways. ...Syria’s
high command and military intelligence are pivotal to the
construction, administration and control of this new
fighting-terrorist machine. The personal say-so of president Bashar
Assad would have been necessary for this project. Damascus airport
facilities are a pivotal link in the mechanism wiring Tehran to the
terrorist groups and transporting them from training centers to
operating bases ready to fight for the Islamic Republic. Without
Damascus’ aid, the operation would have taken much longer.

military intelligence chief predicts Iran-Hizballah-Syria attack on
Israel in summer

Yadlin, AMAN chief, reported that
Iran, Syria,
Hizballah and Hamas expect the United States to attack Iran in the
summer and they are preparing to retaliate by going to war with
Israel. In Yadlin’s view, a proliferation of players and the many
imponderables could ignite a conflict, which none of the parties wants
– as happened in the Six Day War of 1967.

Pelosi's Tour Of Dhimmitude Continues
PipeLineNews
2007/4/2
Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi was today welcomed to Damascus, Syria.
A newspaper controlled by Bashar Assad's totalitarian regime was
obviously pleased at the Dems' fomenting of disarray in American
foreign policy, stating that "a lot of misunderstandings with the
United States could be removed" as a result of Pelosi's meddling.
Escalating a publicity stunt tour which has been called "unbelievably
harmful" by some, Pelosi seems more interested in re-establishing her
bona fides among the party's MoveOn nut roots funders rather than
having any concern regarding the potential harm her antics have posed
for American security interests during a time of war. ... This 'tour' of Pelosi's,
in my opinion, is tantamount to 'Hanoi Jane's' (Jane Fonda) trip to
Hanoi during the Vietnam war era.
Court
prevents groups from sacrificing live animals at Temple Mount
Haaretz
2007/4/2
In their efforts to sacrifice a live animal at the Temple Mount, the
New Sanhedrin Council adopted an almost underground modus operandi.
Rabbis Adin Steinsaltz, Israel Ariel, Yishai Baved and their
associates secretly located a butcher, found a Cohen hailing from a
lineage 1,000 years old and worked out a plan to quickly erect an
alter on the Temple Mount. They tried to revive the
customs of the ancient Sanhedrin tribunal, which was the highest
judicial body for the Jewish people in Israel some 1,600 years ago.
They sought to slaughter a sacrificial animal across from the Western
Wall. The activists, who belong to various
religious circles such as the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful
Movement, also petitioned the High Court of Justice for the right to
perform the ritual. Their plans were thwarted on
Sunday when the court rejected their request, ruling that "the rights
of the petitioners to practice their faith are outweighed by other
considerations such as public order and safety." ...

Israel requests that Pelosi tell Syria to stop terror support
AZCentral.com 2007/4/2
JERUSALEM - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will tell Syrian
leaders when she visits Damascus this week on a trip criticized by the
Bush administration that Israel will only engage in peace talks if
Syria stops supporting Palestinian militants, Israel said Sunday.
The message came during her meeting with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert
during the Israel part of her Mideast tour. "Pelosi is
conveying that Israel is willing to talk if they (Syria) would openly
take steps to stop supporting terrorism," Olmert's spokeswoman Miri
Eisin said. "But at this point, the Syrian government, by openly
backing terror all around the Middle East, is not a partner for
negotiations." ...

questioned by police on Sunday over allegations of incitement to
violence for recent remarks he made calling for a new intifada against
the Jewish State, police said. The three-hour long
interrogation of Salah came 10 days after a Jerusalem court ordered
the radical leader out of the city for violating a previous court
order following a series of run-ins he had with police over a
contested archeological excavation underway near the Temple Mount. ...
